Reporting for Duty

Looks like Bacon & Eggs have made it to base camp and have reported to Lieutenant Barley! Now it’s up to Corporal Hamm to get them to their Squad Sergeant – but from the sounds of it, that’s not going to be an easy task!

Transcripts

Panel 1 Ext. of Cadian base camp. A Valkyrie has just lifted off after dropping of some new recruits. Bacon (salutes): Privates Bacon & Eggleston reporting, Sir! Eggs (salutes): I swear to remain steadfast and true in my loyalty, and may the darkness claim my soul if I prove unworthy... Barley: At ease, men. Panel 2 Cpl. Hamm joins the group, snapping to attention. Barley: Ahh Hamm, make sure these two new recruits check in with Sgt. Cooke before deployment. Hamm (salutes): --Sir! Yes Sir-- *Hamm's speech is hard to hear through his defective Vox-caster Panel 3 Hamm doubles over in exhaustion. Cpl Hamm: --Alrighty gents follow me this way pip pip cheerio and all that-- Bacon: Um... What did he say? Eggs: I dunno, I can barely hear him! Panel 4 Hamm is a bit annoyed at the recruits. Bacon has already started wandering off while Eggs ponders the situation Hamm: --Seriously, we just have to report to Cooke before th...-- Eggs: Some kind of audio glitch? Bacon: Beats me Eggs, but the Lt. said something about a "Sgt. Cooke" Panel 5 Hamm: ... Eggs: Maybe the 'Litany of Unjamming?' Bacon (off panel): Forget it Eggs, c'mon!

    Great looking comic – made even more interesting by the mention of a Sgt. Cooke! You’ve even spelt it the correct way with an ‘e’ and everything – I’m flattered! ;)

    Although I have this sinking feeling that Sgt. Cooke may turn out to be a namesake that I am less than keen to be compared with – I can’t wait to find out…

    This is gorgeous dude AND it made me chuckle.
    I like the combination of the blindly faithfull innocent and the realist. I dont think I’ve seen that done before in 40K. Considering peoplel like Commisars and Inquisitors the like I can see how you could have lots of fun with that set up.

    Looks to be a good one, be keeping my eye on this one for sure, double bonus when I decided to read new TSOALR, find a new comic (about my own army even!) AND news of a new codex.
