Barley's platoon; it looks like some of his men are in control of the lead vehicle Haddock: Well I'll be... those squatting lunatics have just positioned the enemy in PRIME BOMBARDMENT RANGE! Panel 2 Haddock: Radio the Artillery teams to fire at will. Panel 4 Haddock: ...And try to avoid hitting the trukk with our men on it!

Calculus would most probably be an Astropath…Yes, TinTin, by today’s standards, would indeed be considered rather racist, but you need to put it in context of the time it was written. It certainly didn’t play any heavier on racial stereotypes than, say, Looney Tunes did at the time. Besides, the Imperium of Man is about as racist as you can get…
“Xenist” Would probably be a better term really, they don’t seem to care what colour your skin is, just as long as you’re not carrying around an extra set of limbs…

I think, it mostly depends on the regiment.
For example, no officer in a Valhallan regiment(Link: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Valhallan_Ice_Warriors) would care about any normal soldier, because they really have to much of them.

Wait a Guard Commander actaully saying to not hit his own men! Heretic!
I still don’t understand why a *guard* commander would give two ****S about his men. Even in a real tactical situation, the opportunity to utterly destroy your enemy is too great to give concerns about a handful of men. Besides, manpower is the cheapest and most numerous resource in the imperium. These guys are about as expendable as it can get.
