Arrival

Here it is… the first installment of Gone to Ground! We get to meet our two protagonists, Private Bacon and Private “Eggs” Eggleston. After graduating from boot camp, these two were shipped off to join the Cadian 401st Irregular Infantry regiment, currently about to engage an Ork Waaagh!

We find Bacon & Eggs (along with a few other new recruits) huddled in the back of Valkyrie troop transport, contemplating the conflict ahead of them…

Josh and I are hard at work putting together the scripts for the next few months of comics, and we’re already brainstorming ideas for future campaigns… but let’s not get ahead of ourselves!

We hope you like the comic and encourage everyone to leave comments; it’s nice to know when your work is being appreciated, and is always helpful to know if it needs changing!

Panel 1
Ext. Valkyrie flies over desolate plains.
Eggs (from Int. Valkyrie): Bacon?

Panel 2
Int. Valkyrie, Eggs and Bacon sit huddled amongst other Guardsmen. Eggs rummages through his bachpack.
Eggs: You think these Orks are gonna be pushovers?
Bacon: If that were true, this war would already be over.

Panel 3
Eggs has found what he’s looking for; his Uplifting Primer.
Eggs: But… the Primer says that they’re “clumsy & slow”!
Bacon: C’mon Eggs, you don’t actually BELIEVE that crap?

Panel 4
Eggs: But why would the Emperor have something printed if it wasn’t true?
Bacon: …

Panel 5
Eggs keeps browsing his Primer, while Bacon inspects the shoddy workmanship of his armour.
Eggs: Well… it says here that the Orks shouldn’t be so tough!
Bacon: It also says that the Emperor would adorn us in His “finest armour”.

    Timer is now counting… Let’s see if “Eggs” makes it past the “15 hours” life expectancy of rookie IG. (Although it would be an awfully short comic if not…)

    Forgive me for heresy, but the art reminded me a little of Halo. XD Keep it up, I love following the underdogs ;)

    To speak in colloquial Guardsman parlance, that was fething incredible! Certainly better than the ’slaught, that’s for sure.
